Back in 2016 we published an article on IC Card readers, what they are and the benefits of having them in your organisation. We’ve all heard about the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) coming into force in May, and we’ve also all heard about the large-scale data breaches that have occurred over the last few months. (Uber, Equifax etc). As we work with hundreds of organisations across the country, we felt it was important to revisit the article as things have changed dramatically since we first published the article.
The original article can be viewed HERE. With the GDPR coming into force on the 25th May, it’s now more important than ever to ensure the risks of a data-breach are minimised as much as possible, and IC Card readers are crucial in reducing that risk.
IC card readers give you the ability to release your print job by simply swiping your employee card at your copier. It’s a seamless process and it’s being utilised by large proportion of our customers every single day. It gives them the benefit of preventing forgotten print jobs lying around on the copier. Print jobs that could hold personal information on a customer, prospect or employee, and if that document gets thrown out, then you have a data breach. IC Card readers can help prevent that. Not only that, IC Card readers can actually help save the organisation money by cancelling any forgotten print jobs at the end of the day. (or any other desired time limit)
“IC Card readers have been adopted by many of my customers in Norfolk. Not only can they assist with GDPR compliance, my customers are actually enjoying other benefits such as cost and time savings by installing IC Card readers on their devices.”
Jack Wiles, Field Sales Executive (SME)
