On Monday, 23rd April 2018, England will be celebrating Saint George's Day. We are very proud to be British here at Digital Copier Systems (Eastern), with customers and employees from, or have family heritage, from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. As we are a company based in England, we are happy to fly the flag for the feast day of Saint George. As the national saint of England, Saint George's Day is seen as a celebration of English culture, and will be celebrated by all English people, wherever they are in the world. Saint George is the patron saint of England in a tradition established in the Tudor period, based in the saint's popularity during the times of the Crusades and the Hundred Years' War. Veneration of the saint in folk religion declined in the 18th century, but attempts to revive celebration of Saint George's Day on the 23rd of April every year, as an expression of English culture and identity, go back to the foundation Royal Society of St. George in 1894. More recently, there have been campaigns to identify Saint George's Day celebrations as part of a national holiday in England. The Saint George's Cross flag is flown by private residents and local authorities all over England.
